Collaboration with Aidai Asangulova

Artist and businesswoman from Kyrgyzstan. Aidai uses traditional hand-rolling techniques in a novel way to fuse wool felt and high quality silk into exquisite one-of-a-kind textiles. Aidai uses a portion of her profits to reinvest in the economic development of her native village, Ton, which is on the southern shore of captivating Lake Issyk Kul, in rural Kyrgyzstan.

Felt art is a part of the old tradition in Kyrgyzstan. People in this country began making felt products and household items many centuries ago. This kind of art is important in the kyrgyz people`s lives, because they lived in the cold mountain areas, thus the felt clothing and household items helped survive in a cold severe environment.

Now the manufacture of felt is not so popular because it is replaced by the other kinds of materials. Before, the felt products were presented as part of the bride's dowry, but presently, people give other things, because manufacturing goods made of felt is a very hard work.

Aidai Asangulova - artist, designer, one of the most talented woman in Kyrgyzstan. This amazing person is engaged in the development of felt art in our country. She has a clothing line «AIDAI» and studio "Bukon" in which she creates felt products.

Aidai was born in one of the villages in the Issyk-Kul region. Studio "Bukon", where she has been realizing her ideas for 13 years, is named in honor of the artist's grandmother, who was also engaged in felt art, embroidering and needlework.

The main essence of Aidai Asangulova`s business is to get people interested in this amazing type of art. Making felt products is a time-consuming process, which is why people in the present time are not so passionate about this.

Designer Aidai sells accessories, clothing, household items made of felt not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in many in America, Japan, and Korea.

In our country, you can buy her felt artworks in Bishkek, in her studio "Bukon", or in the store "Tumar."

Selling prices depend on the type, size and complexity of manufacture. For example, the price of small scarves starts from 800 soms and goes up to 6,000 soms (scarves length up to 2-3 meters).

Aidai Asangulova works on many other projects and participates in various events, competitions, fashion weeks, where she is usually also a member of the jury. She provides felt art workshops to women of Kyrgyzstan, driving around the different regions of the country.

Войлочное дело является частью традиции кыргызского народа. Изделия и предметы быта из войлока кыргызы начали изготавливать много столетий назад. Этот вид искусства является важным в их жизни, потому что издавна кыргызы жили в горных местностях, где было достаточно холодно, а войлочная одежда и предметы быта помогали выживать в холодных суровых условиях.

Сейчас изготовление из войлока не так популярно, потому что этот материал заменен на другие. Раньше приданое невесте давали в виде войлочных изделий, а в нынешнее время дарят другие вещи, так как изготовление из данного материала является довольно-таки кропотливой работой.

Айдай Асангулова - художница, дизайнер, одна из самых талантливых женщин в Кыргызстане. Этот изумительный человек занимается развитием войлочного искусства в нашей стране. У нее есть своя линия одежды «AIDAI» и студия «Букон», в которой она создает шедевры из войлока.

Сама Айдай родилась в одной из сел Иссык-Кульской области. Студию «Букон», где она реализовывает свои идеи уже на протяжении 13 лет, дизайнер назвала в честь своей бабушки, которая также занималась войлочным искусством, вышивала, занималась рукоделием.

Главная суть дела Айдай Асангуловой заключается в том, чтобы заинтересовать людей в этом удивительном виде искусства. Создание войлочных изделий - довольно трудоемкий процесс, именно поэтому люди в нынешнее время не так этим увлечены.

Дизайнер Айдай продает аксессуары, одежду, предметы быта из войлока не только у нас в Кыргызстане, но и во многих штатах Америки, в Японии и в Корее.
