Works of Elena and Viktor Vorobyev's for AUCA

"If you have been to the second floor of AUCA campus, you probably saw a landscape on the wall on the right. This work is called "Re-orientation" and is made by artists from Kazakhstan - Elena and Victor Vorobyevs.

"Re-orientation" is a way of describing the homogeneity of space where the landscape is marked with signs "high," "low," "near," "far," "close," "horizon," "left," and "right." In "Re-orientation" simple geographic space is represented as a blank sheet. Looking at signs, we begin finding ourselves in a new orientation space.

Yelena Vorobyeva and Viktor Vorobyev live and work in Almaty since 1990s. They use a variety of techniques and genres, and as a result are born multi-layered and often ironic works. Their work is primarily related to the post-Soviet reality of constant change and disorientation, and tell about their impact on people's daily lives. Artists capture invisible part of everyday life, particular characteristics, as well as things and phenomena that often go unnoticed and are not always attractive to the eye.

Also, Elena and Victor made their new series of work they brought to AUCA as a part of topografica exhibition - it's called "Henry's Pages."
