When in 2006, Burul Makenbaeva, the head of the Mental Health and Society NGO, invited me as a photographer to cooperate in a serious project related to the health care reform of our country and help to the people with mental disorders and their families - I agreed, although this topic seemed for me then too complex, too social …

 

Our joint trips to remote areas of the republic and photo documentation of the states of existing psycho-dispensaries, boarding schools and special clinics of the closed type unexpectedly for us helped a lot in promoting the project and implementing it, and seriously influenced mу as a photographer.

 

At present, our rapidly changing world, with its instability, a total growing economic crisis, an explosion of new technologies, environmental and social disasters, have a global impact on the psyche of a modern man.

 

... but mysterious, special inner world, unpredictability of characters and the ability to see the hidden "territory of feeling" to this day, directly or indirectly, is in the focus of my camera and heart.
